Podere le Ripi, highly allocated wines from Montalcino, Tuscany
Troy, Mich. – Woodberry Wine, LLC introduces to the Michigan market the highly allocated, and highly rated, wines from Podere le Ripi. The wines are a realized dream from Francesco Illy, of Illy coffee fame, and hail from the famous Montalcino region of Tuscany. They are made completely bio dynamically and to a meticulous level of quality rarely found in the world of wine. The wines include a Rosso blend (Amore e Follia), Rosso di Montalcino (Amore e Magia), Brunello di Montalcino (Lupi e Serene), and the Bonsai, a Rosso di Montalcino handpicked and hand sorted from the most densely planted vineyard in the world.
By definition, a Brunello di Montalcino must be aged for 5 years before release, the Reserva 6 years and crafted using Sangiovese grapes. “The wines demand you to notice them”, stated Dan Glisky, Jr., CEO and Managing Partner for Woodberry Wine. “Every attention to detail has been given to these wines, starting in the vineyards, through the winemaking process, and exquisitely expressed in the bottling and packaging. Francesco Illy had been searching for the perfect location in Tuscany for his Vineyard, and he finally found it in Montalcino, a place of irresistible beauty. Francesco purchased the unspoiled land from a shepherd in 1998, planted the vineyard in 2000, and embarked on a wine-making journey that has focused on craftsmanship and quality, nature and beauty. The result is Podere Le Ripi, a vineyard dedicated to consumers who value their commitment to quality.
